This committee monitors the development of new construction of buildings, parks and recreation areas, enhancements to existing parks and recreation areas on Daniel Island, and the resulting effects on residents. The Committee administers residents’ questions and concerns on land use issues, making those concerns known to the responsible organizations, and reporting back to the residents of Daniel Island.

Summary of the Latest Land Use & Zoning Activities
These are the issues being brought before the various City of Charleston boards and committees that are specific to land use and zoning on Daniel Island. All meetings are open for public comment except the TRC meetings.
Technical Review Committee – The next meeting will be held on December 13 with no issues of impact to Daniel Island to be discussed.
Board of Zoning Appeals – Site Design – At the most recent meeting on December 5 the request for a variance from the Daniel Island Master Plan to allow an encroachment into the Visual Buffer Zone at 1432 Smythe Street and the request for a one-year extension of a vested right that expires on December 31, 2018 at 1124 Oak Overhang Street (the vested right pertains to a variance granted in 2016 to allow the removal of one grand tree) were discussed. The next meeting will be held January 2, 2019. The agenda is not yet published.
Board of Zoning Appeals – Zoning – The next meeting will be held on December 18. The agenda is not yet published.
Design Review Board – There was a special meeting on December 10 with no issues of impact to Daniel Island discussed.
Planning Commission – The next meeting will be held on December 19 with no issues of impact to Daniel Island to be discussed.
